Free Software Foundation Europe
La Free Software Foundation Europe (FSFE) est une organisation à
but non lucratif, reconnue d'utilité publique dans certains pays,
dédiée aux Logiciels
Libres. La FSFE soutient que les libertés d'utiliser,
d'étudier, de partager et d'améliorer sont fondamentales pour
assurer une participation équitable de tous à l'âge de
l'information. Notre travail consiste à faire comprendre l'intérêt
des Logiciels Libres et à provoquer le soutien de la liberté
des logiciels auprès des politiques, dans
les lois et dans la société dans son ensemble. Nous promouvons également
le développement des technologies, comme le système d'exploitation
GNU/Linux, qui apportent
ces libertés à tous les participants de la société de l'information.
Le travail de la FSFE est rendu possible grâce à de nombreuses
contributions individuelles, et en particulier grâce aux membres
de la Fellowship de la
FSFE. En effet, un moyen de contribuer est de s'inscrire dès maintenant
et devenir un Fellow, et d'amener d'autres personnes à en faire
autant.
FSFE's Fellows have elected their second
representative to the organisation's governing body, the
General Assembly. Julia Klein will join Torsten Grote in FSFE's
strategic decision making body to speak for the Fellows for the next
to years.
Will you be able to read your documents 20 years from now? Every day,
millions of computer users like you edit text and spreadsheets, take
pictures and record audio and video. What if you couldn't read your
private letters anymore, or even open that album with pictures from your
honeymoon? What if you couldn't exchange those files with friends, because
the software used by each one of you can't talk to each other? To help you
make your documents future-proof, we celebrate Document Freedom Day on
March 31.
FSFE welcomes the arrival of greater competition in the web browser
market. From today, Microsoft has to offer Windows users in Europe the
possibility to choose among different browsers. This step puts into
practice the company's settlement with the European Commission from
December 2009. The Free Software Foundation Europe was an active
participant in the Commission's investigation.
Cette année pour la Saint-Valentin, la FSFE appelle les utilisateurs de Logiciel Libre à montrer leur amour pour le Logiciel Libre. Derrière chaque initiative de logiciel libre et derrière chaque organisation, il y a de réelles personnes qui travaillent dur.
In January, FSFE was awarded the Theodor Heuss Medal as a "trendsetting
organisation". This recognition for the hard work of the past years was a
good start into the new year.

A Fellowship meeting takes place on 18 March 2010 in Zurich. We meet at
18:30 in the "Pausenraum" of the "Spielwerkstatt Murmel", Kanonengasse
16, first floor (Zeughaus 5, old barracks in Zurich's city center,
upstairs, down the corridor until the end). As usual, this invitation is
for everyone interested in the FSFE or Free Software. We're looking
forward to seeing you there!
Rencontre mensuelle de la Fellowship à Vienne, Autriche

Ce mois-ci, la rencontre de la Fellowship de Vienna aura lieu au
the
Metalab, situé 6 Rathausstraße dans le 1er district de Vienne.
Nous y serons à partir de 18h00, les discussions relatives au
programme commençant à 19h00. Comme d'habitude, toutes les personnes
intéressées par les Logiciels Libres ou la FSFE sont les bienvenues.

Freedom Task Force ELN Workshop, Amsterdam, Netherlands

The
Freedom Task Force, FSFE's legal and licensing department, will hold the third
European Licensing and Legal Workshop on the 8th and 9th of April 2010 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. This conference will provide legal experts a forum for discussions on supply chain management, compliance procedures, licence management and other legal issues related to the growth of the European Free Software market.
There is limited space available at the event and attendance for non-network members is by invitation only.
